new to St. Michael?

What we Believe

St. Michael was chartered September 29, 1974. Our congregation believes and confesses our faith in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe and confess that all human beings are sinners, and that sinners are redeemed by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God alone justifies human beings by faith in Christ - a faith that God creates through the message of the Gospel. As ambassadors for Christ, God uses us to speak His Word and build His Kingdom. We believe and confess that the Bible is God's revealed Word to us, spoken in Law and Gospel. The Bible is the final authority for us in all matters of our faith and life.

The Scriptures direct us to two sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion. These acts are directed by Scripture, promise God's grace, and are intended for all people.

1. Baptism: We practice both infant and adult baptism. We believe Baptism in the name of Jesus is God's outward, visible sign of the covenant He desires for all. We do not believe that Baptism saves - only faith in Jesus has salvation consequences.

2. Holy Communion: Holy Communion is the "real presence" of Jesus as He promised at the Last Supper. Somehow in, with, and under the bread and wine He is present. We also believe one must know (or be of an age to discern) this means of grace. We therefore offer the sacrament to those 10 years old and above who have had instruction in the meaning of the sacrament.

We believe that marriage was ordained by God at creation as the sacred union of one man and one woman. All sexual relations must therefore be reserved for that union. Christian marriage is a representation of Christ's relationship to His church. We also believe that children are a blessing from the Lord. Thus, all human life is sacred and worthy of protection from the moment of conception.

CONGREGATIONAL VALUES:

(1) We value God’s Word as the sole norm for faith and all of daily life.

(2) We value salvation by God’s grace through our faith which comes by hearing the Word of God.

(3) We value opportunities to connect with the Living God and grow in faith through worship, prayer, and Bible study.

(4) We value a church family that loves and cares for one another.

(5) We value joy and a sense of humor that is a gift of God for those who realize their freedom in Jesus.

(6) We value generously blessing those around us with the blessings first given us by God.

(7) We value life: the life of the unborn, the life of the reborn in Christ, and the life of the yet to be reborn in Christ.

This congregation is an independent part of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).

What to expect

At St. Michael, we offer a relaxed atmosphere that allows you to connect to the living God to grow your relationship with Him. Below are some questions and answers that will hopefully inform you of some frequently asked questions.

Our Mission

To connect people to the Living God.

God wants far more for us than people realize. For some, God is not living, but just a concept, an idea to be shaped and molded as they see fit. Some are stuck in early stages of faith that keep them from a vital connection with the living God. Even strong believers need constant repentance, renewal and re-commitment to the living God. God's grace through Jesus Christ is available to all, and when realized, has the power to transform lives in powerful ways.

Our Vision

We are a healthy, Christ-centered church, grounded in God's Word, empowering every member to shine the light of Christ into the darkness out of a passionate love for God and their neighbors.

A healthy church is founded on God's Word and functions as the Body of Christ with him as its head. It is not a church without challenges, but one that is guided by His Spirit and Word, with a common God-given mission, focusing us on passionately loving God and loving our neighbors.

Life Groups

Life Groups offer a path for both long-time St. Michael members and new Christ followers to grow closer to our Living Savior - and to connect with others in our church fellowship. St. Michael Life Groups are face-to-face (and virtual!) gatherings of 6-12 people who meet regularly for the purpose of studying God’s Word and encouraging each other in personal spiritual growth.

Worship

We offer a variety for you to choose from. Our Saturday night service from 5:30-6:30pm is a casual service (mixture between contemporary & traditional).
